Constantly investing in the latest technology, Urgent Curier achieved 33% turnover growth during crisis year
Urgent Curier has entered the local courier market in 2004 and since then has maintained a steady growth of clients number and business turnover; in 2009 the company grew at the same rate making possible in 2010 an expansion of national coverage from 1635 to 1920 localities.
Over 600 vehicles ensure the national coverage for any type of 24h delivery service in the highly spread Urgent Curier distribution network.
In 2009 the company recorded 50% deliveries growth and 33% turnover growth (reaching almost 10 million euros) by managing a portfolio of over 3000 customers from varied industry sectors (light manufacturing, automotive, ecommerce, banking, public administration, etc.) which requested a volume of 2.100.000 expeditions.
To achieve the 2010 target, 25% of deliveries and turnover growth and considering the financial crisis the company needs to find solutions for future development.
The target of 24% growth at the end of Q-1 current year (compared to Q-1, 2009) was met with the help of a 36% increase in deliveries number accelerating the implementation of established programs.
Existing Solution
To successfully face the increasing volume of deliveries requested by the rising number of customers, Urgent Curier developed an order & delivery processing solution with the help of in-house software developers which allows improved field-service efficiency and complete operations transparency; using this solution the customers benefit of real time information about the status of the deliveries.
“Curier Soft” front-office application is one part of the IT system. Developed according to customers requirements the application is structured on 3 levels so that it answers fast and efficient to customers delivery orders.
The application’s “basic” level allows customers to track the entire route of the expedition during the delivery process, generates cost reports, order reports, exact cost of the expedition, etc.
The “normal” level brings the possibility of expeditions direct input using the import function from customer’s organization internally used software packages (Excel, Xml, etc.). The “advanced” level allows the customer to physically create the delivery by printing transport documents, individual barcodes for each stage of the expedition, significantly reducing the chances for human error.
